SIGNALWORKS™Life Alignment System

Understanding Individual Differences. Improving Person–Environment Fit.

SIGNALWORKS™ is an emerging multidimensional assessment and interpretive framework designed to help people understand how their patterns of attention, thinking, motivation, values, and environmental engagement influence their ability to thrive.

Background

Developed through decades of clinical experience and research-informed work with individuals with ADHD and other neurodevelopmental differences, SIGNALWORKS™ examines how personal characteristics interact with the opportunities, demands, and expectations of everyday environments.

Rather than viewing difficulty primarily as an individual deficit, the framework explores the relationship between how a person functions and the conditions under which that person is expected to succeed.

What SIGNALWORKS™ Examines

SIGNALWORKS™ brings together several dimensions of individual functioning, including:

  1. 01Attention and cognitive engagement patterns
  2. 02The movement from ideas into action
  3. 03Environmental engagement and preferences
  4. 04Personal values and alignment
  5. 05Motivation and reasons for action
  6. 06Learning access and environmental fit

These dimensions are considered together to develop a more integrated picture of the individual.

The goal is to identify meaningful strengths, sources of friction, and opportunities to improve alignment between the person and the environments in which they live, learn, and work.

Current Development Status

SIGNALWORKS™ is moving toward structured pilot implementation and evaluation.

The assessment framework and its associated interpretive reporting system have undergone iterative development and internal testing. Current work focuses on refining the participant and practitioner experience, evaluating the consistency and usefulness of interpretations, and preparing for systematic assessment of reliability, validity, and practical outcomes.

SIGNALWORKS™ is an emerging model, not yet an independently validated psychometric instrument.

Applications in Higher Education

One potential application is helping universities and disability support professionals understand the interaction between neurodivergent students' individual characteristics and the structures of tertiary education.

The framework may help inform more personalized approaches to academic transition, learning support, executive functioning, student engagement, and collaborative problem-solving.

This includes exploring opportunities to identify barriers earlier and distribute support more effectively across students, educators, and institutional services.

Institutional Collaboration and Pilot Opportunities

We welcome conversations with higher education institutions, researchers, disability support professionals, and other organizations interested in participating in structured pilot implementation, model demonstration, and evaluation.
