Your Mind Has a Pattern…
…This Is How You Find It.
The Human Alignment System is an assessment framework designed to show you how your mind naturally works — and where it's most likely to thrive.
Struggling Isn't the Same as Failing
Most capable students aren't failing because they lack intelligence, effort, or potential. They're failing because of a mismatch between how their minds actually work and the environments they're expected to perform in.
Think of it this way: a cactus doesn't struggle in the desert. But it would struggle in a rainforest because the conditions are wrong. Move it to the right environment, and it thrives without intervention, medication, or an overhaul of its core nature.
Human beings work the same way. When your attention, your decision-making, your energy, and your values are aligned with how you work; school, work, and daily life stop feeling like a constant battle. The problem was less about you and more about the mismatch.
A Framework Built to Map How You Work
Attention Orientation
Where does your focus naturally go when you're engaged? Your attention style shapes how you learn, work, and move through tasks.
Environmental Alignment
Where does your mind do its best work? Whether you're oriented toward data, people, or things shapes which environments — and which careers — are naturally energizing versus draining.
Motivational Drivers
What actually sustains your effort over time? Understanding what moves you — not what's supposed to move you — changes how you set goals and build habits.
Execution Architecture
How do ideas move from thought to action for you? Some people are builders; others are starters; others are refiners. Knowing your architecture changes how you plan.
Values Orientation
What matters to you, and why? Your values aren't abstract ideals — they're the engine behind your decisions and your sense of meaning.
Your Alignment Profile brings these five dimensions together into a coherent picture. It doesn't tell you what to do. It shows you how you're wired — so you can make better decisions about where to invest your energy and what kinds of support actually help.
Developed Through Decades of Real Work
Jon L. Thomas, EdD, LPC has spent more than three decades working with students, professionals, and individuals navigating learning differences — including his own experience with ADHD. He holds a doctorate in counseling from George Washington University, is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia, and is the founder and director of the ADHD College Success Guidance Program.
The Human Alignment System grew out of clinical practice — from watching the same patterns appear across hundreds of students who were capable, motivated, and still not getting where they were trying to go. Through the HAS, Dr. Thomas seeks to make those patterns visible and usable.
He has written and spoken about ADHD and academic success for over three decades and continues to work with students and families directly through his practice in Fairfax, Virginia.
